Sustainable City Series: URBAN PARKS AND GREENWAYS

SC12 Flyer Image FORUM 12: URBAN PARKS & GREENWAYS

Thursday, December 3rd, 6:00 pm
Glassworks, 815 West Market, Louisville, KY

The twelfth forum of the Sustainable City Series held by the Urban Design Studio will focus on urban parks and greenways.

Urban parks and greenways play a vital role in the overall sustainability of a city and region. Parks protect wildlife habitats, provide economic development through place-based economies, cleanse the air, reduce flooding, provide environmental education opportunities, facilitate social gatherings, and offer the possibility for recreation, health, and fitness activities.

Louisville already has a world-class park and greenway system, but that is just the beginning. With the Louisville Loop, Waterfront Park, 21st Century Parks and several other notable initiatives, Louisville is creating one of the most extensive urban park systems in the country. Join us to learn more about the future of our parks and how they are promoting a sustainable city.

Sustainable City Series Suggestions

Request for Suggestions ImageThanks to everyone who has sent in their ideas and requests for future Sustainable City Series topics. I have taken all of the suggestions thus far (as of 10/14/09) and tried to group them into categories, reducing down similar or identical topics were they existed, and summarized many of the elaborate responses for a quick glance at what people in our community would like to learn more about. With close to 100 responses so far, I have provided a distilled list below. The ordering in which the categories appear is loosely based on frequency of the suggestions within the category beginning with the highest. If there are topics or specific areas you would like to learn more about and do not see in the list, please contact us HERE . We will continue to revise the list and use it to start searching for available speakers and the appropriate combination or expansion of topics.
